Truck freight shipping — also called LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight — is the method we use to ship all engines and transmissions. These parts are simply too large and heavy for standard parcel carriers like UPS or FedEx. A typical engine or transmission can weigh hundreds of pounds and requires a pallet to be safely transported.
What to Expect with Freight Shipping
- Carrier contact: The freight carrier will call you to schedule a delivery window. Make sure your phone number is up to date on your order.
- Signature required: Someone must be present to sign for the delivery. The carrier will not leave the shipment unattended.
- Delivery window: Freight deliveries are typically scheduled for a specific window (often a half-day window), not an exact time.
- Liftgate service: If your location does not have a loading dock or forklift, you'll need liftgate service — a hydraulic lift on the back of the truck that lowers your pallet to the ground. This is available for an additional $99.
How Your Part Is Packaged
- Used engines and transmissions arrive on a 3x3 pallet, shrink-wrapped, with fluids drained prior to shipment.
- Remanufactured parts arrive in a POD container, which is also used to return your core part.
