What's the bore and stroke for LS engines?

Text size

All LS engines use a 90-degree V8 OHV architecture, but bore and stroke vary by variant. Knowing the bore and stroke is essential when ordering pistons, rings, or a replacement short block.

LS ENGINE BORE AND STROKE: LS1 / LS6: Bore: 3.898" / Stroke: 3.622" / Displacement: 5.7L (346 ci) LS2 / L76: Bore: 4.000" / Stroke: 3.622" / Displacement: 6.0L (364 ci) LS3 / L92 / L99: Bore: 4.065" / Stroke: 3.622" / Displacement: 6.2L (376 ci) LS7: Bore: 4.125" / Stroke: 4.000" / Displacement: 7.0L (427 ci) LS9 / LSA: Bore: 4.065" / Stroke: 3.622" / Displacement: 6.2L (376 ci)

NOTES: • All LS engines except the LS7 share the same 3.622" stroke — displacement differences come from changes in bore diameter. • The LS7 is the only LS with a longer stroke (4.000"), contributing to its larger 7.0L displacement. • The LS9 (supercharged Corvette ZR1) and the LSA (supercharged CTS-V, Camaro ZL1) share the same bore and stroke as the LS3/L99/L92 — the difference is the supercharger and internal components. • The L99 is the LS3 with cylinder deactivation (Active Fuel Management) added. Same bore and stroke, same block.
