What maintenance is required to keep my warranty valid?

Text size

Keeping your warranty valid requires more than just a professional installation. Ongoing maintenance matters too. Here's what you're required to do.

REQUIRED MAINTENANCE — REMANUFACTURED ENGINES

At installation: • Install a new thermostat and thermostat gasket • Install a new timing belt (if applicable to your engine type)

After installation: • Change the oil and filter within the first 1,000 miles after installation • Continue oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles at a commercial repair facility • Do NOT use synthetic oil until after the first 5,000 miles — this is important during the break-in period

Ongoing requirements: • Ensure the oil temperature gauge, speedometer, and odometer are functioning properly at all times • Keep all service records from authorized service centers — personal or handwritten records are not accepted for warranty purposes • All maintenance must be performed at a licensed shop — you cannot perform your own maintenance for warranty purposes

WHY THIS MATTERS

These requirements exist because they directly affect engine longevity. A properly maintained remanufactured engine will last — but skipping early maintenance steps can cause damage that won't be covered under warranty.
