Why does my engine need to be installed by a licensed shop?

Text size

Our warranty requires installation by a Licensed Automotive Repair Facility (LARF). If you're wondering why, here's a straightforward explanation.

FOUR REASONS LICENSED INSTALLATION IS REQUIRED

  • It protects the engine. Improper installation is the number one cause of premature engine failure. A licensed shop with trained technicians follows proper procedures — which directly impacts how long your engine lasts.
  • It creates a documented service record. Warranty claims require proof that the engine was professionally installed. Without an installation invoice from a licensed facility, your claim cannot be processed.
  • It makes you eligible for labor reimbursement. Labor reimbursement on approved warranty repairs is only available when both the original installation and the warranty repair are performed at a licensed shop. No licensed installation means no labor reimbursement — even if the failure is covered.
  • DIY installations void the warranty entirely. If the engine is installed by the owner or at an unlicensed facility, the warranty is voided from day one — with no exceptions.

WHAT COUNTS AS A LARF?

A Licensed Automotive Repair Facility is any licensed automotive repair shop with trained, certified technicians. Most independent shops, dealerships, and service centers qualify.
